Demolition Activity Continues at Front of Hospital
From Tuesday 6 October 2020, stair demolition works, and scaffold removal activities will continue at the front of the hospital. Following completion of the stair removal, the project team will commence installation of inground services and the remaining sections of the overhead gantry.
When completed, the gantry will create a covered walkway connecting the emergency drop-off zone to the front entry into the hospital.
What to expect:
- Increase in construction activity including demolition, saw cutting and excavation.
- Periodic hammering noise, dust and vibration. Every effort will be made to minimise and monitor these impacts.
- Hammering activities will typically take place between 6:30am and 8:30am daily.
Works Continue on New Site Accommodation
From Tuesday 6 October 2020, the project team will commence installation and fit out of the ground floor sheds for the new site accommodation located at the back of the hospital.
The new site accommodation will become the main office location for both the Lendlease and Metro North Hospital and Health Service project teams.
What to expect:
- Increase in construction activity and vehicles in the area.
- Single lane closures for shed installation and ongoing inground services work.
- Two way traffic flow will be maintained under traffic control.
- Periodic noise, dust and vibration. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.
New Screening Mammography Room
The new Screening Mammography Room, containing fluoroscopy and mammography services, is due to open in the week starting Tuesday, 6 October. This facility has relocated within the Medical Imaging department on the ground floor to make way for the new clinical services building.
McKean Street Works – Southern Side (October – November)
Installations of services including telecommunications, stormwater and electricity, will take place concurrently this week along the southern side of McKean Street.
These works will continue for approximately two to three weeks, weather permitting.
What to expect:
- Footpath closure with alternative access routes to/from the hospital, temporary bus stop and shopping centre.
- Increase in construction activity and vehicles.
- Periodic noise, dust and vibration. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.
Mothers in Active Labour
Are you an expecting mother or know someone who is?
All patients in active labour need to enter the hospital through the emergency entrance located at the front of the hospital.
The new emergency drop-off/pick-up zone is located at the front of the hospital with vehicle access off McKean Street.
Phone Caboolture Hospital Birthing Suite on 5433 8670 for more information.
Car Parking
Car parking is provided for hospital patients, visitors and staff on the hospital grounds.
The new Public Carpark, located alongside the new Main Entry, can be accessed via the All Weather Access Road off Mewett Street or via Bury Street.
Please be mindful there is an extra distance to walk from the new Public Carpark to the new Main Entry. Rest points have been provided along the path and wheelchairs are available for patients and visitors. The wheelchairs are located at the new Information Booth, at the new Main Entry.
We recommend you allow extra time to find a carpark before your visit, especially during peak periods (Monday-Friday 08:00 – 16:00).
New Information Booth Now Open
The new information booth, located at the temporary main entrance, is now complete. We look forward to welcoming back our hospital volunteers to the booth in the coming weeks.
Minimising construction impacts
We are committed to minimising the impact of our works where we can. All construction activities are carried out with the health and safety of the local community as our top priority. We endeavour to keep noise, dust and vibration to a minimum. Some ways we do this include:
- truck minimisation periods during peak times to maintain traffic flow into the car parks from the hospital ring road
- traffic control and safety exclusion zones established to ensure worker, pedestrian, vehicle and cyclist safety
- mitigation measures in place to manage light spill, dust, noise and vibration
- noise, dust and vibration monitoring devices in use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- conducting high impact works during standard hours with respite periods during rock-breaking activities
- coordinating works to ensure hospital operations continuity.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during construction.
