Site Activity Update – Week Commencing 7 September

Enabling works on the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project continue as preparations are made for major construction activity to commence in the coming months. The project hotline, 1300 144 425 remains operational and our team can be contacted anytime at CabooltureHospital@Lendlease.com

What is happening?

ATTENTION: From 21 September 2020, the main entry into Caboolture Hospital will relocate to the back of the hospital.

What to expect:

  • All non-urgent patients, visitors and staff will enter through the Temporary Main Entry, which includes a new patient drop-off/pick-up zone, a volunteers booth, a food truck, maps and directional signage.
  • As part of this change, public carparking will also be relocated to the rear of the hospital.
  • Patients and visitors arriving by car should enter the hospital via the All Weather Access Road off Mewett Street and continue past the Temporary Staff Carpark. The public carpark can also be accessed via Bury Street.
  • Emergency patient drop off, including dropping off mothers in active labour, will still be located at the front of the hospital with vehicle access from McKean Street.

New Patient Pick-up / Drop-off Point (now – 21 September 2020)

The drop-off zone at the front main entry of Caboolture Hospital is now closed to all vehicles. A new patient drop-off / pick-up zone (15 minutes) has been installed alongside the existing public carpark out the front of the hospital.

The new drop-off / pick-up zone should be used by all patients and visitors to the hospital.

What to expect:

  • Signage has been displayed to safely direct all vehicles to the new dedicated drop-off / pick-up location.
  • Taxis and other patient transfer companies have been advised of this change and have been directed to use the new emergency drop-off zone.

Demolition activities near the Caboolture Hospital main entry

Demolition of the fire stair at the front of the hospital will commence Tuesday, 8 September. Control measures will be in place to minimise noise, dust and vibration disruptions as much as possible.

What to expect:

  • Demolition activities and excavation
  • Excessive noise, dust and vibration
  • Minor delays due to traffic changes and truck movement around the construction site.

Ongoing McKean Street intersection works

Works continue along McKean Street in preparation for the new signalised intersection. The following construction activity is taking place to allow authorities including Optus and Unity Water to return to site and complete their services.

What to expect:

  • Removal of on street parking
  • Removal of the southern footpath along McKean Street
  • Some minor delays to local travel time
  • Two-way traffic will be maintained
  • Some noise and dust.

 Works happening in Education Lane

Final preparations are underway for the new Temporary Main Entry which will open on Monday 21 September at the back of the hospital.

A new gantry is being installed down Education Lane which will provide a covered walkway between the new drop-off/pick-up zone and the entrance into the hospital. Services are currently being installed and minor construction works are taking place.

What to expect:

  • Increased construction hoarding in the area
  • Some noise and dust while services are being installed
  • Pedestrian diversions for staff entering the hospital via Education Lane.
