Nightworks for new McKean Street signalised intersection

From Sunday, 21 February to Friday, 26 February, between 6:00pm and 6:00am, our team will undertake nightworks to install underground conduits, street lighting and an induction loop for the new signalised intersection on McKean Street. These works are being carried out after-hours to minimise vehicle and pedestrian impacts.

A section of the footpath on the northern side of McKean Street will be closed during these works, with a pedestrian diversion in place (refer map below).

What to expect:

  • Night works on McKean Street starting from 6:00pm to 6:00am and running from Sunday, 21 to Friday, 26 February 2021.
  • Footpath closure (northern side of McKean Street) during night works, with pedestrian diversions in place to/from the hospital, the bus stop (ID 310304) and the Central Lakes shopping centre. Footpath re-opened each morning for pedestrian use during the day.
  • Removal of parking bays and council trees along the northern side of McKean Street.
  • Reduced speed limit of 40km per hour along McKean Street.
  • Some noise impacts during saw cutting and tree removal activities.
  • Traffic controllers safely directing construction vehicles in and out of the site and directing pedestrians during nightworks (whilst footpath is closed).

Slip lane closure – McKean Street

On Thursday 25 and Friday 26 February, the slip lane at the intersection exit from the Caboolture Hospital onto McKean Street (refer map above) will be closed for installation of site perimeter hoarding.

What to expect:

  • Reduced speed limit of 40km per hour along McKean Street.
  • Local motorists may experience minor traffic delays associated with the partial closure.
  • Traffic controllers safely directing vehicles out of the emergency exit road and onto McKean Street.
  • Pedestrian access maintained, spotters in place to coordinate works with pedestrian movements.

Single lane closure – Pettigrew and Moorhead Streets roundabout

The northbound outer lane of the roundabout on the corner of Pettigrew and Moorhead Streets will remain closed until the end of February 2021 while construction of a new driveway into the temporary construction workforce carpark is underway (refer map below).

The carpark is due to be finalised and operational by early March (weather permitting) and will accommodate construction workers’ vehicles during the construction of the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project.

What to expect:

  • Temporary closure of one north-bound lane at the roundabout. The second north-bound lane will remain operational at all times.
  • Reduced speed limit to 40km.
  • Residents may experience some minor traffic delays.
  • Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

Single lane closure - Pettigrew and Moorhead Streets roundabout

Piling activities for the new Clinical Services Building

Piling activities are underway for the new Clinical Services Building with 75 out of 202 piles in the ground. Piling activities for this area are due for completion in early March (weather permitting) at which time piling activities will commence on the site of the new Multi-Storey Carpark.

What to expect:

  • Increased construction activity in this area
  • Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

 Civil works for the Multi-Storey Carpark

Ongoing civil works, including site stripping and subgrade replacement activities, continue on the site of the Multi-Storey Carpark.

What to expect:

  • Increased construction activity in this area
  • Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

The Common Good site café

A new café operated by The Common Good and located in the construction site lunchrooms is now operational and providing a morning tea and lunch service for our construction workers.

The Common Good café inside Caboolture Hospital, and its coffee van at the hospital’s Main Entry, will operate as per normal, serving patients, visitors and hospital staff.
