Healthcare closer to home for residents of Bribie Island and nearby areas is one step closer with the Bribie Island Satellite Hospital scheduled to open to the public on Wednesday 17 July.

Before then, the site will host a Community Open Day on Thursday 11 July to allow members of the community the chance to learn more about the services being offered, when each will be up and running, and take a sneak peek at the facility itself.

Visitors will see artwork incorporated into the facility on windows, along pathways, and adorning an array of areas throughout the site. Artist Melissa Bond has created four distinctive elements that represent the connection between the environment and the Kabi Kabi people, including the surrounding waters and the distinctive Cypress pines.

The event will start at 9:00 am and run until 1:00 pm with staff on hand to answer questions and provide information about the rollout of services, including the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic which will provide urgent care for non-life-threatening conditions.

Residents from across Bribie Island will have the opportunity to travel to the Satellite Hospital Community Open Day via the free shuttle bus that will operate from the Bribie Island Park n’ Ride, located at Bongaree Avenue, travelling along Goodwin Drive, Kangaroo Avenue, and Welsby Avenue, stopping at Moreton Bay Regional Council bus stops along the way.
