We strive towards excellence in teaching, education and research. We offer advanced training in most medicine and surgery subspecialties, with outstanding success rates in specialty examinations. Our advanced services offer exceptional training environments, these include:
- The largest gynaecological cancer service in Australia offered through the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer
- State of the art cardiac catheterisation laboratory and quantitative coronary angiographic system through cardiology
- The Multidisciplinary Pain Centre is one of seven nationally accredited for training in the fellowship in pain medicine
- Mental Health Services is a state-wide leader in clinical practice, teaching, research and telemedicine
- We collaborate our clinical research with The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research and Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
Junior doctor education
Our Centre for Medical Officer Recruitment and Education (CMORE) supports junior doctors through providing contemporary training and education programs that comply with relevant national, state or territory laws and regulations pertaining to prevocational training.
Educational sessions for interns and house officers include
- Weekly Surgical, Medical, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Mental Health, and Emergency Medicine education programs and practical workshops conducted by clinicians and guest speakers
- Weekly Resident Rounds feature guest speakers and clinicians presenting interesting topics promoting clinical learning and professional development.
- Regular Medical and Surgical Grand Rounds
- Opportunity to attend and present at unit specific education.
