    Inpatient

    We see babies in the Grantley Stable Neonatal Unit (GSNU) and the maternity ward at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH).

    Who can use this service?

    • Any newborn baby admitted to the GSNU or maternity ward with a referral to physiotherapy

    • Newborn babies with movement or developmental needs
    • Newborn babies with injuries such as fractures

    What treatments do we provide?

    • Education to parents, families and caregivers
    • Exercises and stretches
    • Splinting and casting
    • Developmental support

    Outpatient Services

    Who can use this service?

    • Babies who were admitted to RBWH and who live within the RBWH or The Prince Charles Hospital catchments

    How to use this service?

    • To use this service, you must have a referral
    • A referral can be made by a medical professional (eg. paediatrician or GP) or RBWH physiotherapist

    Who do we see?

    • Premature babies
    • Newborn babies with conditions that affect their bones, muscles and joints, such as positional talipes
    • Newborn babies with movement or developmental needs
    • Newborn babies with injuries such as fractures

    What services do we offer?

    • Outpatient Clinics
      • We provide treatment of conditions such as positional talipes
      • These appointments can be offered face to face, telehealth or over the phone
    • Baby Playgroups
      • These face to face playgroups are offered to families who spent time in (GSNU)
      • We assess baby’s movements and development in a supportive environment
    • Baby Massage Class
      • In this two part face to face series we teach families how to massage their baby and support their baby’s development
    • Growth and Development Clinic
      • In this clinic we review babies and children at high risk of developmental delay within a team of doctors and psychologists. (Ideally link to their page but they don’t have one)

    • Please dress your baby/ child in comfortable clothes
    • Bring baby wipes, nappies, spare clothes and snacks
