General outpatients

Physiotherapy

We see patients who have been referred by doctors, surgeons, GPs and other allied health staff from our hospital services.

Patient being treated on bedYour referral will be categorised based on your condition.

Our physiotherapists in general outpatients will see patients with:

  • Injuries to your bones, joints or muscles
  • Conditions affecting your upper (arms) and lower body (legs)
  • Conditions affecting your neck and your back
  • After surgery for your bones and joints

Your physiotherapy appointment may involve:

  1. Talking about your joint, bone or muscle condition
  2. Looking at where you may have pain (your physiotherapist will need to see your shoulder if you have shoulder pain)
  3. Hands on assessment and treatment (your physiotherapist may need to touch and press on your joints and muscles)
  4. Provide you exercises to help improve your strength and movement
  5. Link you in with other services in your community
