Social worker Jeanne Tedge and her team of allied health professionals are always ‘REDy’ to go, even on the weekends!

The RED (rapid effective discharge) team is a Caboolture Hospital initiative trialling the effectiveness of bringing on a social worker, physio, occupational therapist and clinical assistant to work on the weekends so patients can be discharged sooner.

“We don’t want patients to be waiting here if they don’t need to be in hospital anymore,” Jeanne said.

“Allied health professionals don’t typically work weekends but we want to offer an improved discharge service to our patients so they can go home on the weekend rather than waiting until Monday.

“We also found that it’s easier for patient’s families to pop to hospital on the weekend when they’ve got more time on their hands, it’s been fantastic so far!”
