Recently, the Staff and Shadow Councils have visited many of you in the wards and across different facilities. My sincere thanks to all staff for their response and support over the last few days and in particular those who worked the weekend. In true form everyone was simply outstanding in their efforts and I am very grateful to work with such a generous group of people. Our patients and their families are most thankful for the care and communications they received which kept them up to date and less anxious around what was happening with their loved ones.

National and International evidence strongly supports the importance of a vaccine booster to maintain COVID protection for yourself, your family and friends, your colleagues and our patients. With the anticipated peak of COVID transmission within the next 2 weeks, the importance of booster vaccination is critical.

Important COVID-19 update | RBWH

New COVID case numbers seem to be following the trajectories that have been modelled and are consistent with the trends we have seen in NSW and Victoria. The Omicron variant is dominating our cases and conversion to hospital care remains manageable at present however we face certain and significant challenges in the coming weeks and vigilance around PPE and other tried and tested infection control strategies is more important than ever.
