Dear colleagues,
It’s been a big week! Metro North’s #NextCare Health Conference has been running over the past two days, with more than 300 emerging and established healthcare leaders in attendance. The feedback I’ve heard so far has been very positive. Congratulations to the #NextCare steering committee and Communications team for coordinating the event.
As part of the conference, we hosted the Bond University Sustainable Healthcare Awards. Metro North had five finalists in the awards.
Congratulations to:
- Clinical Skills Development Service and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Maternity Education Program for winning the Education and Literacy Award,
- Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Tele-Cardiac Investigations Program for winning the Leadership Award,
- And Caboolture Hospital Emergency Department PIVOT Model for a special commendation in the Leadership Award.
Fit testing information
As our Incident Controller Dr Liz Rushbrook mentioned in her message this week, we are developing a comprehensive fit testing program for staff, starting with those staff working directly with or supporting known COVID-19 positive patients.
Please keep an eye out for fit testing information for your area and work with your supervisor to book in when the opportunity is available.
Vaccine update
National Cabinet is meeting twice a week about the COVID-19 vaccination rollout. Once we have more information Dr Rushbrook will update you in the Incident Controller messages, supported by vidcasts.
ANZAC Day
This year sees a return to ANZAC Day ceremonies after they were cancelled last year. RBWH is holding an ANZAC Day event this Sunday 25 April. Staff and RBWH patients who are able to leave their clinical units are invited to line the Butterfield St entrance to the hospital from 7:50am in a show of solidarity for the courageous men and women who fought for our country in the past, present and future. Dr Kirk Morris will be playing the Last Post at 8am, followed by a minute silence.
For those able to take a long weekend, enjoy yourselves.
Regards,
Jackie
