Dear colleagues,

This week the Premier and Minister for Health visited the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) to commemorate the commencement of surgical activity. They were impressed with the service. The Minister also visited the STARS COVID-19 vaccination hub to thank staff for their work and to thank vaccine recipients for participating in the program.

We are continuing to experience high demand across our facilities and across the South East Queensland region. Thank you all for your continued commitment to patient care and for looking at how we can do things differently when there’s a surge.

In addition to last week’s STARS vaccine hub, we have commenced Phase 1A COVID-19 vaccinations at RBWH and Redcliffe over the last two days. In the past two weeks we’ve delivered almost 3000 vaccines. Thank you to all our vaccination teams for your work to get everything up and running at our new sites. Next week we will expand to other facilities to continue rolling out vaccinations.

White Cloud Foundation Leaping Ladies – Angie Dobbrick, Mel Carter and Kate Copeland

Yesterday morning, Kate Copeland, Angie Dobbrick and I participated in the White Cloud Foundation Leaping Ladies event – abseiling off the Kangaroo Point Cliffs! White Cloud Foundation’s Meals for Mums program delivers meals to mothers who are at risk or experiencing perinatal depression. This year’s event raised enough money for 4200 meals!

I’m glad I did it, but I’m very glad it’s over!

Regards,

Mel Carter
