Message from the Executive Director Health Service Strategy & Planning: Colleen Jen

Dear colleagues,

Metro North Health is developing a Metro North Outpatient Services Plan 2021-2024.  This Plan is an opportunity to explore new ways to improve processes and access to outpatient care that is patient centred, integrated, effective, efficient and safe.  The Plan will build on the successes of previous work as well as current initiatives and bodies of work underway in each Directorate, across clinical streams, and partnerships with other Hospital and Health Services, the Department of Health and Primary Health Networks (PHNs).

The scope of the Plan includes all Metro North Health outpatient services (medical, nursing and allied health) across all specialties delivered by all Directorates. The plan does not focus on other ambulatory care services however does explore how outpatient services interact with other service delivery areas e.g. emergency departments, day procedure areas, admitted patient care and community services.

Consultation with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders has occurred to develop service principles. The next phase of consultation is scheduled to commence in late September and will be targeted on specific service actions to deliver the desired state for Metro North. The actions will be at a Metro North, Directorate, Stream/Service level. A draft Plan will be circulated for broad feedback. The Plan will be completed in December 2021.

If you want further information on the Plan or would like to be involved in its development please contact Megan Kreis or Meredith Nelson from Healthcare Excellence and Innovation.

Regards,

Colleen
