Angie Dobbrick, Executive Director, Caboolture, Kilcoy & Woodford Clinical Directorate

Once again we are faced with an extraordinary weather event! I know, if it’s not COVID it seems to be water. It is always during these critical times that I am humbled by the teamwork and commitment you all have to the community and each other. We shouldn’t underestimate the power and strength in this culture and you should all be very proud of your efforts. Thank you!

Of course, your health and wellbeing are important so please be careful on the roads and near flood waters- if it’s flooded forget it. Patient safety during these times, as always, needs to remain a focus. Especially communication with the patient and their families. If families can’t visit could I please ask that you keep them informed and in any way possible enable communication between them and their loved ones.

Would you like to go to the Metro North Health Research Excellence Awards?

The Metro North Health Research Excellence Awards finalists for 2022 were announced this week.

Congratulations to Dr Thuy Frakking who was nominated for a Rising Star award and Dr Mahesh Ramanan who was nominated in the Research Support category.

There are a limited number of seats available for Metro North staff who have a research connection and would like to attend the awards evening. The night will provide you with opportunity for networking and connection with research colleagues from across Metro North Health.

The event will be held on Thursday 2 June from 6pm to 10pm at the Eatons Hill Hotel Grand Ballroom.

If you are interested in attending, complete the online expression of interest form before 5pm Wednesday (18 May). You will be notified if you have received a ticket on Friday 20 May.

Have your flu vaccination next week

It’s important to have a flu shot as soon as possible. There have been more than 1000 cases already this month across Queensland, which is already the worst result in the past eight years.

At Caboolture Hospital, flu vaccinations (Queensland Health staff only) are available Tuesdays and Thursdays only from the Infection Control office, which is in the main building (ground level).

Vaccinations will be given from 8am-10am, 11am-1pm and 2pm-3.30pm. No appointment necessary but please take your Medicare card and staff ID.

Training for hiring managers on TMS

Hiring managers play a critical role shaping the culture of Metro North by recruiting the right candidates. A well-planned and executed recruitment strategy will set you and your team up for success.

Training for Hiring Managers is now available in a web-based format on TMS. The HR Services Recruitment team can also offer one-on-one in-house sessions if this is preferred.

Email Nick.Hope@health.qld.gov.au or phone 5316 3907 for more information.

Today is also your last chance to apply to become a Values Based Recruitment Coach. Visit the QHEPS page for more details.

What a compliment!

Here’s a great compliment received on PREMS recently about our Endoscopy team:

“The staff were so patient. Doctors coming in after to talk to me about the procedure and beforehand making sure I was at ease and knew what was happening. I am so appreciative to all of the staff. Thank you kindly.”

Finally,

The wet weather will hopefully ease over the weekend but please be careful with many local roads and waterways flooding.

Check the latest road closure information for the Moreton Bay Regional Council area and the Kilcoy Creek bridge with Somerset Regional Council area.

Take Care,

Angie.
