Let’s celebrate NAIDOC Week

Be encouraged to call into the central courtyard this Thursday between 11am and 3pm. At 11am, there will be a traditional Welcome to Country with Aunty Jacque Kina, following by Torres Strait Islander dance group performances and a drop-in art workshop.

A sausage sizzle including bush tucker will complete the event. Some of the sangas will let you taste emu, croc and roo. Try your hand in the 10-minute art workshops. Come down to join in when you can.

The Metro North Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Team will release a NAIDOC Week film each day next week via website and Facebook … look out for them to celebrate and learn.

Dying well

Below is some lovely feedback from a deceased patient’s family. It really highlights how amazing our team is to still be able to provide outstanding, compassionate care despite the challenges we are facing.

“My father-in-law was admitted on the 20th June into the ED resus area. He was very unwell and passed away. The entire staff were friendly, helpful, courteous and interested in making sure his rights and dignity were catered for. They also made sure that his family – me included – were treated with the same respect. Our family would like to thank you all. It made a very difficult process and time bearable.”

Kilcoy Hospital, Cook Supervisor Kath EllemCelebrating Kath’s 45 Years!

Yesterday, Kilcoy Hospital bid farewell to Cook Supervisor Kath Ellem, who is retiring after 45 years of service.

The Kilcoy team held a lunch at the hospital to acknowledge Kath’s contribution and dedication to the hospital, patients, colleagues and the Kilcoy community.

Farewell and good luck!

Care well, help people get better.

Simon.
