In a bid to meet Queensland’s growing demand for trade apprentices, students from Caboolture State High School have toured behind the hoarding of Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment
project recently.
Hosted by Lendlease in partnership with Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ), the day was a catalyst to start conversations about careers in construction, providing students an opportunity to view first-hand some of the trades working on the project, and to learn about skills and training courses.
Through its range of programs and funding, CSQ is committed to building a skilled and diverse construction workforce capable of delivering projects such as the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment project.
The CSQ team were on hand during the day to provide students with information on programs to help them find a pathway into construction.
Lendlease’s Building Business in Queensland General Manager Jerome Johnson said it was a fantastic initiative designed to start conversations about skills and training, and to help guide the next generation interested in a construction career.
“Working with our partner CSQ, we have launched a recent initiative to encourage skills and training opportunities, with our Lendlease team wearing specially-designed high-vis workwear that promotes training courses,” Jerome said.
“These shirts will be rolled out to our EHS teams throughout Queensland – starting at Caboolture, and then to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Cairns.”
