Caboolture Hospital Operational Services Officer Lauren Saunderson enjoys helping staff, patients and visitors.

Lauren has been an Operational Services Officer (OSO) at Caboolture Hospital for the past 11 years and lives the Metro North Values – respect, teamwork, compassion, high-performance and integrity – every day.

She’s responsible for the housekeeping of the on-call doctor and theatre houses, not far from Caboolture Hospital.  She also cleans the Riverside and Child Youth Mental Health offices and is responsible for several other key tasks that ensure good patient care.

“It’s an autonomous sort of job, but I love that I work in multiple locations where I have met wonderful people from different departments,” Lauren said.

“I like that I’m trusted to be out there and to look after the accommodation, so the doctors and clinical staff are able to enjoy their much-needed break in a clean, tidy and relaxing environment.”

Lauren is also a great golfer having grown up around the greens at Caboolture Golf Club. She has a swing that’s on par with many a professional golfer.

She also has a communications degree from the University of the Sunshine Coast.

CKW Facility and Support Services Manager Janelle Peel said operational staff had such an important role supporting the delivery of quality and effective healthcare at Caboolture and Kilcoy hospitals.

“We’re busy helping move patients around the facility, performing regular cleaning, delivering linen, organising waste management, clearing beds and basically maintaining a safe and clean environment that are all essential parts of any hospital,” Janelle said.

“Just like everyone else, the OSO team is very busy and we appreciate patience from staff who call for our assistance.

“We aim to get to each job as soon as possible but sometimes there may be a delay, so we ask everyone to be patient.”

In October, CKW will celebrate Operational Support Staff Appreciation Week, which will be a great opportunity to officially thank the OSO team for a job well done.

“Keep an eye on the Staff Bulletin for more details on how to say thank you and other celebrations planned to help say thanks for a job well done to our OSO team,” Janelle said.
