The Common Good awarded its inaugural Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals and Woodford Corrections Health (CKW) Research Grants during a ceremony at Caboolture Hospital recently.
Four $10,000 Novice Researcher grants were awarded to researchers with innovative research projects, including Annabelle Marozza and her research into diagnostic tools for sensory processing disorder and Dr Shahida Rehman’s research into outcomes of breech birth deliveries.
Other grant recipients included Deb Sutherland, who was awarded a grant for the evaluation of an antenatal care service for young, vulnerable mothers. Aletta Cowen will use her grant for research into CT scan requests by nurse practitioners in the Emergency Department.
The Common Good also provided three $20,000 grants to Dr Mahesh Ramanan’s trial of peripheral intravenous catheters in the intensive care unit, Dr Thuy Frakking’s development of an algorithm to detect swallowing impairment in premature babies and Dr Sean Clark’s project into improving rapid access to care for patients with type 1 diabetes.
Congratulations to all the grant recipients and thanks to The Common Good for your ongoing support of Caboolture Hospital.
