Christmas came early this year in the Redcliffe Hospital paediatric ward, with Santa making a surprise visit, bringing with him a swag of gifts and toys donated to the hospital through Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital.

Nurse Unit Manager of the Paediatric Ward Emma O’Hara was on hand to welcome Santa and help hand out some of the presents and toys.

Emma said that the donations were very welcome.

“It is great to see smiles on the children’s faces, especially those in hospital at this time of year,” Emma said.

“We always work hard to make it a brighter place during Christmas with lots of decorations, but when Santa arrived, it changed the whole atmosphere.

“We’re very grateful to Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital and its donors.”

Emma said that after visiting the paediatric ward, Santa left donated toys and gifts for children and babies in the Paediatric ward, Paediatric Emergency Department, Maternity Unit, Neo Natal Unit, and other services caring for children over the Christmas period.

Santa’s visit to the hospital was arranged this year by some of his good friends at Raise it for Redcliffe, Redcliffe Hospital’s philanthropic partnership with the RBWH Foundation, and local community radio station Bridge FM.
