RBWH offers special memorial for early pregnancy loss

RBWH offers special memorial for early pregnancy loss

As Chaplains, we provide support to parents who have lost babies and help guide them through what can be a devastating, strange and overwhelming experience.

The Chaplaincy Service at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital will be holding an Interment of Ashes Service for parents and loved ones who have lost a baby before 20 weeks gestation.

The service will take place on Thursday 12 May 2022 at 2pm, commencing at the RBWH Chapel and then moving to the Baby Memorial Garden.

Anyone who has experienced an early pregnancy loss in the past year is invited to attend in remembrance of their loss.

RBWH Chaplain Carol O’Ryan said that in the past the Interment of Ashes Service has been a special way for parents and loved ones to commemorate their baby.

“The loss of a baby, no matter how early in the pregnancy, can be a sad and difficult time,” she said.

“As Chaplains, we provide support to parents who have lost babies and help guide them through what can be a devastating, strange and overwhelming experience.

“The Interment of Ashes Service is a special gathering for us and for the families who attend. We welcome anyone who feels they would benefit to join us.”

If you would like to attend the service, are seeking support for early pregnancy loss or would like further information about ordering a memorial plaque, please contact the RBWH Chaplaincy team on (07) 3646 8404, Monday-Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm.
