Common challenges in primary care: Personality Disorders Webinar

Metro North Hospital and Health Service and Brisbane North PHN invite GPs to join us and our panel of experts for an evening of education and discussion.

Personality vulnerabilities and disorders are some of the most challenging conditions managed by general practitioners and mental health services. Personality disorders are often complicated by diagnostic overshadowing, co-morbid medical conditions and interpersonal challenges with engagement.

At a time of crisis, some patients have also been provided with a working/presumptive diagnosis of personality disorder which can then influence future management by clinicians, support staff and allied health. This can have negative effects on the patient and care providers.

Join your GP colleagues and guests from the public mental health sector, including a consultant psychiatrist from the Metro North Mental Health Short Stay Unit, to hear about practical strategies and some further referral options for mental health care.

The webinar will focus on improving clinician comfort with managing acute distress and complex risk assessment, raising awareness of follow-up options and providing recommendations from acute mental health services that can be utilised in general practice. There will be an opportunity to engage with our panel of experts about advice on management, referral options and strategies that may be useful for you in primary care.
