International Guest: Erwin Böettinger

Erwin Boettinger speaking about European Perspective on digital healthJamieson Trauma Institute were fortunate enough to host a visit by Erwin Böettinger, who is the Head of the Digital Health Center, Hasso Plattner Institute, Potsdam, Germany.  This was sponsored by an IHBI QUT Visiting Researcher award and JTI are grateful to IHBI for enabling this very fruitful visit. Erwin was invited to speak at the inaugural 2019 Digital Health in Australia Trauma Seminar (run by JTI, and co-hosted by the Digital Health CRC, CSIRO Australian eHealth Research Centre, and the Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation at QUT. Erwin provided insight around European digital health developments and outcome measurement tools being used in the Hasso Plattner Institute.

Erwin’s visit was focused on two key areas: digital health training opportunities in Qld and exploring collaborative research opportunities with key groups working in this space.  Erwin had a busy schedule of meetings for his one week visit including meeting with: Professor Ross Young, the Executive Dean at the Faculty of Health, QUT along with the QUT health management course leaders to discuss digital health training opportunities in Qld, meeting with Dr Paul Gray, the Director Professor Tess Crammond Multidisciplinary Pain Centre (PTCMDC), meeting with Dr Keith McNeil and David Bunker, as well as Dr David Hansen and Dr Michael Lawley (from CSIRO Australian eHealth Research Centre), and Professor Kerrie Mengerson, as part of the JTI monthly research meeting to name a few.
