Facilities

• There is a parent’s lounge located at the end of the main entrance corridor. After you have walked through the glass door, continue to walk straight down the corridor towards the large windows. Turn down the small hallway on your right and the parents’ lounge is on your left. It has a fridge, microwave, tea, and coffee-making facilities. If you keep food in the fridge, you will need to label it clearly.
• There is a mobile phone charging station in this area. Please do not leave your phone unattended while it charges.
• There is an expressing room in the nursery. Please ask your nurse for the location. You can choose to express at your baby’s cot or in the expressing room. There are electric breast pumps and kits available for you to use.
• The RBWH has a cafeteria on the first floor serving hot and cold food. There is also a newsagent (which has a selection of groceries), a chemist and a post office on the first floor.

Parking

We understand that parking can be an expensive and stressful part of the nursery experience.  If your stay is going to be longer than two weeks, then you may be eligible for subsidized parking.  Please go to the Trust Office on ground floor next to admissions and speak to them about subsidized parking.  They will provide you with a letter that you take to the management of the parking station.

Ronald McDonald House and other accommodation

If you live over 50kms from the hospital, you are eligible to stay at Ronald McDonald House (there are two sites – Herston, next to the hospital and South Brisbane, across the road from the Queensland Children’s Hospital).  You do not have to pay to stay at Ronald McDonald House.  Please talk to the administration officer at the main desk of the nursery.  They will help you to complete any forms and book a room.  At times, you may be referred to another local accommodation provider.  We will be able to assist you with that process also.
