Clinical services & locations
Genetic Health Queensland (GHQ) is a state-wide service. Our central offices are located at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Herston campus in Brisbane, however we also have genetic counsellors permanently stationed in Brisbane, Townsville, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Gold Coast. Our clinical geneticists and genetic counsellors also attend multidisciplinary clinics in a range of facilities, and a visiting geneticist regularly delivers clinics in regional centres across the state.

Telehealth
As the state-wide clinical genetics service for Queensland, Genetic Health Queensland offers appointments via telehealth or telephone whenever clinically appropriate. Through Queensland’s telehealth program our patients receive quality care closer to home via telecommunication technology, which improves access to specialist healthcare for people in regional communities and reduces the need to travel for specialist advice.
Note, not all referrals are appropriate for telehealth, in particular when the specialist needs to physically examine the patient. We strive to see patients as close to their home as possible. Our genetic specialists and triaging team will determine if telehealth is an appropriate and available option based on individual circumstances. For more information about Queensland’s telehealth program, please review the resources below.
