The Metro North Health ‘Way to Go’ portal provides a central point of useful information to help prepare patients and visitors for their visit to Caboolture Hospital.
The portal includes Google Maps for getting to the hospital, site maps to help people navigate their way around, services available and an opportunity to make notes and bring a list of medications for their appointment or procedure.
The Way to Go initiative – which began as a joint project between Metro North Health and QUT Information Technology students in 2018 – was revisited and reinvigorated in late 2020 and during 2021.
In partnership with the Metro North Online team, the portal has been configured from the existing Caboolture Hospital website content and is maintained by the Metro North Online team to ensure information remains current.
As with all large health facilities, it can be difficult to find easily accessible, centralised information for people to prepare for their visit to a Metro North Health facility. It’s a great helping hand for patients and visitors who can be apprehensive when visiting a hospital.
The original intent for the portal was to assist outpatient appointments. However, it has now grown to encompass all aspects of each facility with way finding for the most requested routes within the hospital.
The portal is online for Community and Oral Health, The Prince Charles Hospital and now Caboolture Hospital. Work is already underway to bring other Metro North Health facilities online as soon as possible, including Kilcoy and Redcliffe hospitals.
