Research Consumer Group Project Officer

Lisa Anemaat is a speech pathologist and works with the STARS Education and Research Alliance as the Research Consumer Group Project Officer, supporting and empowering consumers to be involved in health service research. Lisa is completing her PhD using Experience-Based Co-Design (EBCD) to co-design services for the Queensland Aphasia Research Centre (QARC). Her research explores the unmet needs and priorities of stroke survivors to inform service development across remote, regional and metropolitan areas of Queensland. Her PhD research about consumer’s priorities for aphasia service design has been cited in two successful grants in aphasia research (MRFF 2020 Cardiovascular Health Mission Grant Number MRFF2007460, $388,521; Stroke Foundation, $99,869), and has been showcased as an example of co-design and consumer engagement in research in two presentations (Metro North Allied Health Grand Rounds June 2022; Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, University of Queensland Research seminar May 2022). Lisa started her career as a nurse and spent 14 years working cross-culturally in the Peoples Republic of China.
