The Prince Charles Hospital Expansion Project

As part of the 2022-23 State Budget, the Queensland Government announced it will invest $2.3 billion in Metro North Health infrastructure projects, including a $360 million expansion program for The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH).

TPCH Expansion will deliver significant improvements to the hospital campus and will support our healthcare service to meet the growing needs of the local community, as well as patients requiring tertiary care or services that are not provided by their local Hospital and Health Service.

The expansion will deliver:

  • A new Acute Services Building
  • 93 new beds (Adult and Paediatric)
  • Expanded and new Adult Emergency Department
  • Expanded and new Paediatric Emergency Department
  • Expanded and new Paediatric Outpatient Department
  • New Paediatric Operating Theatres
  • Green spaces and courtyard gardens

This exciting project will result in TPCH becoming the second largest paediatric service in Queensland.

Queensland Health, in partnership with Metro North Health, is delivering TPCH Expansion and has appointed Hutchinson Builders as the Managing Contractor. Construction is set to start in mid-2024 and is due to be completed in 2027.
