Building for the future – putting patients first at The Prince Charles Hospital

Over the next five years, $456 million is being invested in capital projects and infrastructure at The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) to provide more healthcare to the community.

This includes a $360 million expansion of the hospital as part of the Queensland Government’s $9.78 billion capacity expansion program, to ensure Queenslanders living in some of the state’s fastest-growing regions have access to quality healthcare now and into the future.

Hospital expansion project

This expansion includes a new Acute Services Building, expanded Adult and Paediatric Emergency Departments and 93 new beds, including 56 paediatric beds, that will make TPCH the second largest paediatric service in Queensland.

Project timeline

The Managing contractor and design team (architects, engineers and quantity surveyor) have been appointed and design is underway on TPCH Expansion Project.

Early works are scheduled to commence in 2024.

New multi-storey car park

Construction of a 1500 space car park is underway and will make it easier for patients, visitors and staff to access convenient car parking at the hospital.

Mental health crisis stabilisation facility

A new crisis stabilisation facility has been announced, set to improve potential gaps in emergency mental health care.
