Co-designing health equity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Held in November 2021, the purpose of the Metro North Board Community Engagement Forum was to connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, consumers and community partners with Metro North Health Board and Executive to assess readiness and progress authentic co-design of the Health Equity Strategy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Feedback from the forum was utilised to support co-design of Our Journey Towards Health Equity: Metro North Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025 including forthcoming steering committee and working groups in collaboration with the Metro North Health Service Strategy and Planning Unit and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Unit.

Since the Board Forum there have been many forums, working groups and yarning circles involving Metro North staff, external partners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, and community working together on health equity. The diagram below shows the journey and activities undertaken from May 2021 to September 2022.
