Volunteer Glenn takes appreciation in his stride

Improving patient information about dental treatment
Community and Oral Health consumer liaison officers heard consistent feedback that many patients didn’t understand why they needed certain dental treatment, or what that treatment and aftercare meant.
Eat Walk Engage – using consumer engagement to guide delirium interventions
Eat Walk Engage is a state-wide delirium prevention program available on two wards at The Prince Charles Hospital. The program focuses on improving the mobility, cognitive engagement and nutrition and hydration of patients as a way of preventing delirium.
LGBTIQ+ consumer engagement in Community and Oral Health
The team at Community and Oral Health have developed a new approach to partnering with the LGBTIQ+ community. This project started from an observation that services needed to be more welcoming and supportive of LGBTIQ+ consumers. A co-design approach was implemented and a working group was established.

RBWH Culturally Welcoming and Responsive Emergency Department
Over the last five years, the RBWH Emergency and Trauma Centre (ETC) has seen a 33% increase in annual presentations by people who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (to almost 4000 per year).

The Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Emergency Department (ED) incorporated an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Senior Health Worker (SHW) into the multidisciplinary team.
