Peninsula community Raises it for Redcliffe Hospital

Close to $180,000 has been raised by community donations to Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital on Giving Day.
Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital began in 2021 as a partnership between Redcliffe Hospital and the RBWH Foundation. Since then, more than $1 million has been raised, thanks to the generous support and donation of Peninsula residents and local businesses.
Redcliffe Hospital Executive Director Cang Dang said this year’s Giving Day was the fifth held since the philanthropic partnership began.
“Giving Day is a major fundraiser for Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital – and we’re incredibly grateful to our community for their generous support again this year,” Cang said.
“With the donations provided by our community, Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital has been able to support around 60 different projects – many having a direct impact on patient care.”
Cang said one of the best things about Giving Day at Redcliffe Hospital was the way everyone gets involved to show their support.
“Giving Day always brings a festival atmosphere to the hospital, and this year was no exception,” he said.
“We had local radio station Bridge FM broadcasting live, clowns, sausage sizzles, a huge bake sale and lots of community members and hospital staff donating their time in our phone room taking and making calls for donations.”
Cang said that long with generous donations, many current and former patients use Giving Day as an opportunity to share their positive experiences of the hospital, which has been caring for locals since the 1960s.
“It’s humbling to hear the huge impact that our hospital has had on so many families, and how grateful many people are for the care they receive here,” he said.
Among the many projects that Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital has supported since 2021 include renovations and improvements to the hospital’s Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit, as well as a project currently underway to renovate areas in the Palliative Care Unit.
