Meet Scotty — the friendly face behind the Clinical Transport Team at Metro North Health. Scotty helps patients travel between STARS and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for appointments like dialysis or bone density scans and averages 29,000-35,000 steps a day.

But for Scotty, it’s never just about the ride.

“I try to make people laugh and take their mind off their health issues,” he said.

“Every day is different — new people, new conversations, new moods — and I try to bring positive energy and a bit of humour to every interaction, no matter what the day holds.”

After 23 years in the automotive spray-painting industry, Scotty joined Metro North Health following a life-changing experience. After battling pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Scotty found himself in the ICU at The Prince Charles Hospital, where the team saved his life.

“I wanted to give back, be part of the healthcare system that took such great care of me,” Scotty explained. “If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Thank you, Scotty, for your incredible dedication to your patients and your team. You make Metro North Health a brighter place. ❤️
