National Particle Therapy Symposium 2019

Event Program

The symposium will promote the national partnership, and bring together national and international clinicians, researchers, academics and experts to discuss proton and carbon ion therapy and its place in Australia. We will also focus on the contribution of particle research to the global human, scientific and industry community. the symposium will encompass an array of national and international representatives. including, NHS proton lead Professor Adrian Crellin, Professor Emmanuel Tsesmelis Principal Physicist CERN, Switzerland, and Professor’s Ulf Hakan Nystrom and Petra Witt from Denmark. This year we are also holding a public meeting on the evening of the 4th March focusing on the global importance of particle research and the contribution of proton and carbon ion therapy to cancer treatment.

Monday Night – Public Forum

Metro North is hosting a free public forum to present the contribution of particle research to the world at large and proton and carbon treatment for cancer. The evenings topic discussions will be led by international speaker; Professor Emmanuel Tsesmelis, Principal Physicist, CERN and Australian speakers; Dr Adi Paterson, Chief Executive Officer, Australia’s Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and Professor Liz Kenny, Senior Radiation Oncologist, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
