Metro North has risen to the challenge
Creating a dedicated team of experts to 3D print valuable supplies for use during COVID-19
Comprising clinicians, engineers, designers, manufacturers, health regulators, and government and academic experts, together this team has harnessed the power of digital modelling, 3D printing and injection moulding to boost the PPE supply chain.
We’ve set ourselves a goal of 3D printing 3,000 face shields in 3 weeks, and achieved it in a mere 5 days! In total, over 15,000 face shields were crowdsourced from our partners and members of the community. We cannot thank you enough for your generous support!
Thank you making a difference to PPE supplies across Metro North to further assist our frontline staff in the fight against COVID-19! We also wish to thank PRUSA and The University of Melbourne’s School of Design Robotics Lab for sharing their designs with the makers community.
The face shields (PRUSA RC3 and University of Melbourne Version 1) are being processed for distribution and are registered with the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) under the ARTG number 333849.
In parallel, we are working on other PPE equipment, for which final designs will be shared here when ready.
We are a proud member of COVID-SOS, a national platform boosting frontline medical equipment supply through community sourced methods of design and manufacturing. Healthcare workers, engineers and manufacturers can share designs, challenges, offers and requests at www.covidsos.com.au.
