Congratulations to Simon Patmore who has won Australia’s first Winter Paralympics gold medal in 16 years.

His win in the men’s snowboard cross final also makes him the first man in Australian sporting history to win a medal at both the Summer and Winter Paralympics.

Simon scored bronze in the 200m T46 final in London in 2012.

He also won Commonwealth Games gold in athletics in 2008.

Simon, who works at The Prince Charles Hospital, has Erb’s palsy – paralysis of the left arm caused by nerve damage.
