Artificial Intelligence trial

Artificial Intelligence-powered medical imaging software is currently being trialled in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Radiologists in the Medical Imaging Department are currently using Annalise.ai to determine if it enables a reduction in time from scan to final report in instances where the AI solution identifies abnormal findings on a chest x-ray.
Annalise.ai detects up to 124 findings on chest X-ray scans and provides decision support to radiologists.
Radiologists will continue to inspect x-rays and create and approve the finalised reports, with Annalise.ai supplying findings to complement or assist the Radiologists’ workflow.
Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital is the first public health facility in Australia to trial the AI decision support software secondary capture feature.
Metro North Health Chief Digital Health Officer Dr Jason Brown said the Queensland Technology Future Fund, which is funding the trial, has provided this opportunity to explore innovation and advancement in Metro North Health.
“The trial has the potential to identify service and clinical benefits that will enable clinicians to make accurate decisions faster,” he said.
“Funding for trials such as these allows us to explore the integration of cutting-edge digital technologies into our current practices to improve patient care and operational efficiency to support Queensland’s growing medical needs.”
The six-month trial will determine the suitability of an Artificial Intelligence based application to support clinical analysis for chest x-rays at RBWH.
