Staff from across Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) recently came together to celebrate outstanding achievements and recognise excellence in patient care, innovation and teamwork at the 2026 Staff Excellence Awards.

From guiding patients through their surgical journey and supporting bereaved families to improving access to care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, this year’s finalists showcased the breadth of expertise, compassion and innovation at RBWH.

Metro North Health Board Member Professor Michael Cleary PSM and Chief Executive Nick Steele joined staff to celebrate the achievements of this year’s finalists and award recipients.

RBWH Executive Director Louise Oriti said the awards provided an opportunity to recognise the people and teams making a difference across the hospital.

“These awards celebrate clinical, non-clinical and operational individuals and teams for outstanding achievements in performance, compassion, partnerships, education, health equity and living our values,” Louise said.

“Well done to all our finalists, highly commended recipients and award winners. You set the standard for excellence through both the work you do and the way you do it.”
