The Central Sterilising Department and the Theatre Bookings team have shared Redcliffe Hospital’s Team of the Month award for October.

The #IamRedcliffe Team of the Month award celebrates Redcliffe Hospital wards, units and teams championing the hospital’s values and bringing their A-Game to patient care in the previous month.

Daniel Fearby is Acting CNC for the Theatre Bookings team, and he said the team was extremely excited to receive the award.

“Our team manage the elective surgery list here at Redcliffe Hospital. We’re a mixed team of nursing and administration staff, and it’s our job to help patients be ready and prepared for their surgical procedures.

“We do that by helping arrange and organising pre-admission appointments for patients ahead of their surgery and working with the surgical teams to book the best day and time for the patient to have their procedure.”

Daniel said the team was excited to receive the award because while their work is essential and hard, their team is one of those that works behind the scenes at the hospital.

The Central Sterilising Department team shared the award for October, and their Nurse Unit Manager, Nicola Barker-Gregory, said her team were excited about the award, too.

“The Central Sterilising Department cleans and sterilises surgical instruments and other equipment, making them safe for surgical procedures, operations and clinical use,” Nicola said.

Nicola said the sterilising department was a busy one, providing instruments for the hospital’s seven operating theatres, emergency department, intensive care unit, birth suite, outpatient procedural rooms as well as many external dental clinics throughout the community.
