Auxiliary approaches million-dollar fundraising milestone
For more than fifty years, volunteers of the Redcliffe Hospital Auxiliary have been raising funds to support patient comfort and care at Redcliffe Hospital.
In 2024, expectations are high that the group will reach and surpass a total fundraising tally of more than one million dollars.
The Auxiliary’s Annual General Meeting this month heard that after 52 years of hard work, more than $929,000 had been raised, with around $74,000 contributed in the last financial year alone.
Redcliffe Hospital Acting Executive Director Louise O’Riordan said the hospital was very proud of its Auxiliary members and grateful for their continuing support.
“Over the past year, our Auxiliary raised nearly $75,000 and funded projects in the hospital’s Palliative Care Unit, Rehabilitation Unit, Zen Den, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, and wards 5 East and 4 East,” Louise said.
“They raise those funds through the Auxiliary gift shop, which is a permanent fixture in the hospital’s foyer, and with fundraising outside the hospital with stalls and plant sales.
“We’re also grateful to them for their partnership with our REDDY Fun and Fitness team, which makes the annual REDDY Fun Run possible too.”
Louise said the Auxiliary’s AGM was well-attended, with community members and elected officials from all three levels of government attending.
“We congratulate re-elected Auxiliary President Liz Hancock and thank all of our Auxiliary members for everything they’ve done to support patients,” Louise said.
