Staff recognised in Australia Day Achievement Awards

Metro North celebrated the achievements of staff today at our annual Australia Day awards.

The awards recognise staff who have contributed to the organisation through their dedication and commitment to patients and supporting colleagues.

The 2018 Australia Day Achievement Awards recipients are:

  • Dr Tony Rahman for exemplary leadership of the CURE-IT program to change the health outcomes of patients with hepatitis.
  • Josie Selke for demonstrating our Metro North values in her day to day work and in her support of and commitment to her colleagues.
  • Dr Jeremy Hayllar for demonstrating exemplary professionalism, integrity and compassion in the promotion of patient centred alcohol and drug care, and providing professional and moral support to colleagues.
  • Dr Merrilyn Banks for leading by example with high standards of behaviour and performance, working to improve research capacity and governance at RBWH, and a commitment to high patient meal satisfaction.
  • Sue Cadigan for demonstrating integrity and high performance and for supporting the whole RBWH surgical team to thrive.
  • Todd Bagshaw for being a strong role model for mental health nursing, and demonstrating professionalism, compassion and respect.
  • Executive Reporting, Policy and Compliance for ensuring best practice financial governance through a commitment to teamwork, engagement, high performance and helpful advice to colleagues.
  • Dr Leslie Jayasekera for his dedication to the Redcliffe Caboolture mental health community, excellence in patient care, and unwavering kindness to colleagues and patients.
  • Dr Geoff Leong for displaying exemplary leadership, putting the patient at the centre of care, and dedication to training and education.

Dr Sharon Kelly, who headed up Metro North’s Ear, Nose and Throat service expansion in 2017, received the Public Service Medal from the Queensland Premier. Dr Kelly was recognised for her dedication to health in Queensland.
