Evacuation centre and shelter information
Metro North Health provides critical healthcare for patients in emergency healthcare situations. We are not equipped to provide shelter for people who do not have an emergency healthcare need.
We encourage people who do not need emergency hospital care to seek shelter at a local Refuge Shelter.
For those that need NDIS care, but do not need emergency hospital care, carers should contact the NDIS crisis referral hotline 1800 595 277.
Refuge centres
Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council have both set up temporary Refuge Shelters. These shelters will be short-term facilities designed to protect people during the predicted peak wind period of Tropical Cyclone Alfred and are a place of last resort.
These facilities include only basic amenities and will not have beds, cooking facilities or food provision.
Residents attending Refuge Shelters will be requested to fill in registration forms upon arrival.
Residents attending temporary Refuge Shelters should bring limited belongings, but consider bringing the following:
- non-perishable food
- any essential medication
- essential personal documents.
Please note pets are not allowed at the RNA showgrounds Refuge Shelter. Pets at the Moreton Bay Refuge Shelters must be in a cage.
