Genetic Kidney Disease Decision Aids

The Genetic Kidney Disease (GKD) Decision Aids are a suite of decision support tools to guide and enable adoption of genomic testing as a diagnostic tool in renal services in Queensland.

Developed by a collaboration between the clinical experts in the Queensland Renal Genetics service and the Clinical Skills Development Service, and reviewed by naïve and expert users.

Topics include:

  • identification of patients with GKD
  • key clinical diagnostic features for different GKD subtypes
  • selection of appropriate genomic test panels
  • processes for requesting tests, and
  • result interpretation.

They do not represent specific clinical direction for any individual clinical scenario or patient.  Users outside of Queensland should clarify clinical practices and genomic testing processes for their location.
