In 1965, the Rolling Stones couldn't get any 'Satisfaction', Mary Poppins was 'Practically Perfect', and on 30 June, Redcliffe Hospital opened its doors to provide healthcare for the Redcliffe Peninsula. 🏥

🎉 Over the last few weeks, current and former staff have been celebrating the hospital's 60th anniversary, including long-serving staff member Karen.

Currently Nurse Unit Manager of the Transit Lounge, Karen has used the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on her long association with the hospital.

"I was one of the last cohorts who trained on site here at Redcliffe back in the late 80s and have seen some remarkable changes over the years to both the hospital and the local area," Karen said.

"Nursing has evolved considerably in the last 30+ years through advances in technology, an expanded scope of work, increased focus on patient-centred care, and more recently, when Redcliffe Hospital transitioned to our digital health system last year."

As one of the fastest-growing areas of South East Queensland, the hospital is changing to keep pace with the needs of the community it serves.

"Our workforce has also grown and diversified to meet the evolving healthcare demands of the community, particularly as the population ages and health needs become more complex," Karen said.

"Redcliffe Hospital is an important part of the community and a lovely place to work. It's been great talking to other staff and patients recently about what the hospital means to them."

Thanks to Redcliffe Hospital staff past and present for their contributions. Here's to a bright future caring for the people of the Redcliffe Peninsula. 💗
