Acting Security Supervisor Kenny is excited for Christmas to soon be upon us, and for the first Redcliffe Hospital Healthcare Ambassador role for the medical service line to roll out in the New Year. 🥳

The ambassador program is a non-traditional security role that is designed to engage with patients at the earliest opportunity, to assist patients with their concerns and help them enjoy their stay at the hospital.

“The ambassador role is often important in identifying the early signs of aggression and agitation in patients who may be affected by medication or medical conditions,” Kenny shares.

“Intervention with a security member without the security uniform on can assist and deescalate situations, producing better patient and staff outcomes.”

Kenny encourages everyone to stay safe this Christmas, and we think that’s a gift we can all appreciate.

The Facility Services team and REDDY Fun and Fitness at Redcliffe are the stars on top of the Christmas tree this year, as their coordination of the Redcliffe Hospitals donation drive has reached more than 50 local families this festive season. 🎄🌟

Facility Services Coordinators Stacey and Mel have been extra good this year, gathering donations from the very generous Redcliffe staff and filling stockings for the families.

"We will be continuing to support the Redcliffe St Vincent De Paul Christmas appeal to help our community," shares Stacey.

"St Vincent De Paul has provided a list of families who require support and we are providing these families with food hampers and age-appropriate gifts."

👏 A very worthy Shoutout Saturday to the Facility team and our whole Redcliffe Hospital team for their generosity this December.

"I was an assistant in nursing for 40 years, working in aged care, dementia wards, hostel and general nursing units. We’d like to pass on our thanks and accolades to the public health system; we know people get frustrated that there’s an element of waiting, but we’ve both greatly benefitted from the services. We’re not sure what Christmas looks like this year, I'm looking forward to getting better and am happy to close the door on 2025. Just last week we became great-grandparents for the first time to a lovely little boy. We can’t wait to meet him very soon."

If a new job with work-life balance and a great culture is top of your wish-list, look no further than the Redcliffe Hospital Registered Nurse talent pool!

Cath oversees the talent pool at Redcliffe, where the team are currently recruiting permanent, temporary and casual staff across full time, part time and non-standard hours.

Cath is looking for nurses who take the time to learn about their patients to provide them with individualised care, which is particularly important when patients may be in hospital over Christmas.🎄

"What makes working the holidays worthwhile is the rewarding feeling of being there for people at their most vulnerable," Cath said.

"We rely on each other to make it through the busy shifts."

With a range of roles on offer, consider applying today! 🧑‍🎄

She's making a list, she's checking it twice, and Dr Hollie knows if the Christmas presents you're buying are naughty or nice! 📝

With tomorrow marking the first day of December, Redcliffe Hospital Emergency Doctor Hollie wants everyone to remember the risks associated with certain toys when shopping for little ones this festive season.

Hollie and her peers will see many kids over the Christmas break, with lots of broken bones and sprains from trampolines, bikes and scooters, through to small objects which are accidentally swallowed or put in ears and noses.

Her message when buying gifts this year is simple - no small parts, and supervise your children when using their new gifts.

"Choose age-appropriate toys and think about who else lives in the home, particularly younger siblings who may put things in their mouths. Review the age recommendations on the packaging and inspect the toy for small removable parts, sharp edges, or poorly secured batteries and wiring. If the toy requires batteries, make sure any spares are stored safely and out of reach," she said.

"If you’re buying bigger items like bikes, scooters, or skateboards, don’t forget to include the proper safety equipment and ensure children are supervised while using them." 🎁 🛴

This ed is just as bad as caboolture ed esp by what a nurse just said about a patient 🤔 and the risks wow what i just heard i wonder how many have gone home cause they were feeling unwell and not made it and the hospital has had the results all along. Seems like its all about money and not about patient care.
