Changes to visiting at Redcliffe

The safety of our patients, our staff, and all visitors is paramount. And we also understand that visiting your loved ones in hospital is incredibly important. To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) we are taking extra precautions when it comes to visits. Visiting hours vary from ward to ward. Please check with the ward before visiting.

Patients are limited to one visitor per day for a maximum of one hour. If you are sick, you cannot visit. Children under 16 cannot visit. Some areas may have exemptions.

Additional exemptions may be granted for end-of-life support. Please discuss with the patient’s treating team. From 1 May you must have had your influenza vaccination to visit aged care facilities.

The restrictions apply to all visitors. Further restrictions may apply to critical care areas. We acknowledge there may be special circumstances where additional support may be needed. If you think this is the case, please discuss it with the nurse unit manager or director of nursing of the facility before visiting.

Virtual visits

We understand these restrictions are hard, and we know visitors play an important role in a patient’s recovery, but these are exceptional times. Technology makes it easy to stay in touch remotely, and we really encourage you to stay connected through phone, text, email, social media or video-chat.

If you’re new to video-chat, we have created some guides on how to best use your device to keep in touch. You can even use our free WiFi! Find out how to connect a patient to Wifi and download video call applications for free.
