Anton giving voice to Redcliffe Hospital consumers
As healthcare workers, keeping patients safe and providing quality care is at the heart of everything we do – with consumer representative groups keeping us accountable.
Anton Cavalli is one of those representatives, having been a member of the Redcliffe Hospital consumer group for two years.
“Consumer representatives are basically the voice of the patient in hospital service planning and decision making,” Anton said.
Anton is passionate about making a difference to how the hospital provides services to his community.
“My wife and I were both born at Redcliffe Hospital, so it’s a special place to me,” he said.
“I’ve been a patient here for many years as I receive treatment for cancer and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to give back and make the hospital services better and more accessible for the community.”
Redcliffe Hospital’s Acting Director of Safety and Quality, Nikia Goldsmith recognises the important role Anton and the other consumer representatives play in the hospital community.
“With our busy day-to-day workloads, it can be easy to lose sight of how our patients view our services,” she said.
“The consumer representatives provide critical feedback to ensure we understand the experiences consumers have when they receive services from our hospital.”
In the coming years, Redcliffe Hospital will expand to meet the needs of the growing community it serves. The consumer representative group will play a role in ensuring patient needs are front and centre in this planning.
“In the next few years, Redcliffe Hospital will double its workforce and expand the services we provide,” Nikia said.
“We will be leaning into the feedback Anton and the other consumer representatives provide as we to plan how we’ll serve the community into the future.”
Anton is one of six Redcliffe Hospital consumer representatives, with groups also in place for other Metro North facilities.
