Dear Team Royal,

Welcome to the new-look News at the Royal and the first edition back in a number of months.

This week has brought a number of unexpected changes across the hospital, however in true Team Royal fashion you have taken them in your stride and continued to provide great healthcare to our patients. While we navigate this unprecedented time, there is still much to celebrate, and much to reflect on.

Like many things, COVID-19 put a pause to our story sharing early in the year. But as you’ll see in this edition, it certainly didn’t dampen our Team Royal spirit and our commitment to always putting our patients first. Even amid preparing for and responding to a global pandemic, you have taken out research awards, reached incredible heights in waste reduction, transformed patients’ lives through quality engagement with our Interpreter Services and found new ways to bring joy and fun to the workplace.

Together, as a team, we have achieved so much this year and I cannot thank you enough for your dedication and compassion.

Lastly, I’d like to remind you about the Herston Healthcare Symposium which is coming up in December. This is our largest annual research event and a wonderful opportunity to showcase your research and learn about others. Over four days, you’ll hear from leaders in healthcare and how we are improving best practice healthcare through collaborations with our academic and research partners. Keep an eye out in coming months for registration to the free event.
