Meet William, one of The Prince Charles Hospital's (TPCH) Emergency Department doctors. 👋

Born and bred in Kaula Lumper, Malaysia, William then studied medical school in Ireland before moving to Brisbane in 2009.

He's been at TPCH ever since. 🏥

'I really love the emergency department and emergency medicine and really get a lot of satisfaction from trying to help patients,' William shared.

'I've had to bring my children as well as my wife to the emergency department before and I must say, being on the other side I can totally understand some of the challenges.'

'When your loved ones are unwell and you are feeling uncomfortable or they are in pain, sometimes you feel helpless. So, understanding what actually happens on the other side of the department actually makes it easier.'

🚨 Ever wondered what it takes to keep a hospital theatre running around the clock? Here's a clue: Stephen and the team in the operating theatres are instrumental in achieving this.

With 12 theatres in action 24/7, the skilled teams perform up to 10,000 procedures every year, handling everything from life-saving emergencies to planned surgeries.

Stephen, who works in nursing, says the role is busy and rewarding.

"You have an opportunity to make a real difference getting to know patients and putting their mind at ease before surgeries," he said.

"We have a highly motivated team, with over 100+ employees who keep the ball rolling in our busy department."

TPCH is looking for a Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Consultant to join their fast-paced team. If this sounds like you, apply now: smartjobs.qld.gov.au/jobs/QLD-PCH601699 and smartjobs.qld.gov.au/jobs/QLD-PCH603278

"Time is precious. I decided to leave my job in aged care, which I had worked in for over 30 years, to become a bus driver because the job gave me the flexibility to be at home with my son more. It's the best decision I ever made. It meant I could be with him and watch him grow up. I'm grateful I've had those extra years to be with him. I'm a very determined person. If I get an idea in my head, I'm going to do it and see what happens."

Brilliant idea. Gifts that money can buy kids are only a substitute when mum can’t afford the time to spend with them
