Smarter Smiles
Smarter Smiles is an initiative by Metro North Hospital and Health Services to engage with high school students, providing oral health education and improving access to free dental services.
Smarter Smiles is a free program designed to engage with high school students to reinforce the foundations of good oral hygiene habits and create a dental home with their local school public dental clinic. Students will be given the opportunity to access free oral health services onsite at their school.
Students will be involved in a classroom oral health lesson and be given the opportunity to have an on-site dental screening (a brief check-up) and fluoride application. As part of the Smarter Smiles program, the website was designed for high school students and parents to enable access to free public dental services and oral health education. Teachers are invited to participate in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) component and better learn how to support their students if a dental trauma occurs at school.
