For Redcliffe Hospital Allied Health assistant and Army Reservist Cassady, Anzac Day is a solemn and important opportunity to pay tribute to those who served.
Having dedicated 20 years of his life to his military career, Cassady has seen both the best and the very worst of what humans are capable of.
“Mateship is the greatest thing about the Army experience. You bond over things that most people will never encounter,” he says.
“During my time serving, I’ve been deployed overseas in peacekeeping capacities and been involved in many domestic operations, including disaster response. These days I mainly instruct on land combat modules, initial employment training and I am small arms instructor.”
Today and every day, Metro North recognises and commemorates the sacrifices of our Anzacs. Lest we forget.

Dr Alan Yan is an emergency department doctor at Redcliffe Hospital and the new chair of Metro North Health’s Clinical Council.
“Essentially, the Clinical Council is a voice for all staff,” Dr Alan said.
“Clinical council seeks input from staff and presents it to senior leaders to consider as part of planning, delivering and improving hospital services.”
“Frontline staff know better than anyone what’s working well in caring for patients and areas where there are challenges.”
Dr Alan said Clinical Council met regularly with hospital and health service executives and board members about ways to make Metro North Health even better.
“Regardless of role, everyone plays an important part in our hospital community, and deserve to have their say,” Dr Alan said.
