Mum and daughter duo Paola and Lina share a special bond having taken them from Peru to working side by side as midwives at Redcliffe Hospital, where they help other mums. ❤️👩🍼
Before moving to Australia, Paola was a dentist in Peru where she gave birth to her daughter Lina at 35 weeks. As a single mum, she raised Lina without any dedicated support before making the move to Australia where she decided she wanted to train as a midwife.
"Seeing the two sides of pregnancy in Peru versus Australia, makes us feel special being here at Metro North where we have all the resources to provide to women. It’s a life changing experience, and we are here to make the best of that moment when you have the baby," said Paola, who now conducts research in this space, between here and Peru, to help other women.
Lina says that her mother's career inspired her greatly in choosing to become a midwife, after initially studying law.
"I wasn’t really passionate about law, but talking about Mums' experiences with her, that’s what made me want to change. She has always guided me throughout my life, and it was like having a walking a textbook with me," said Lina.

I had the lovely experience with both back in 2020 Paola was my student midwife for my son. And in 2024 Lina was my student midwife for my baby girl! I miss them so much. They are amazing midwives xx
