Paediatric services
Referrals for children and young people should follow the Children’s Health Queensland referral guidelines.
Scope of service
The Metro North Brisbane Immunology/Allergy service will accept patients with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of the following clinical conditions for expert immunology input:
- Any acute or chronic allergic conditions such as
- Allergic rhinitis/sinusitis/conjunctivitis
- Urticaria and angioedema
- Drug allergy
- Stinging insect allergy
- Hereditary angioedema
- Mastocytosis
- Connective tissue disorders such as
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Dermatomyositis
- Polymyositis
- Sjogren’s syndrome
- Vasculitis such as
- ANCA associated vasculitis
- Essential Cryoglobulinaemia
- Polyarteritis nodosa
- Henoch Schonlein purpura
- Suspected or known immunodeficiency
- IgG4 disease – referrals for known IgG4 disease for an opinion on management will be accepted. Where IgG4 disease is suspected, the referral should be addressed depending on the involved organ.
- Sarcoidosis – referrals for known Sarcoidosis for an opinion on management will be accepted. Where sarcoidosis is suspected, the referral should be addressed depending on the involved organ.
- Antiphospholipid syndrome – single organ autoimmune disease where treating team has requested immunology input.
The following conditions will generally not be accepted if referred for:
- Diagnosis of metal or orthopaedic cement reaction
- Contact dermatitis
